About the Regalettes

The Regalettes, Inc. was founded on February 5, 1958 by the late renowned Gertrude Gipson-Penland, former Entertainment Editor of the Los Angeles Sentinel. On that day, she sat down with 11 other professional and community women who wanted to better the African American community in Los Angeles. From garden and yacht parties to fashion shows and balls with top entertainment celebrities, the Regalettes solidified their legacy for helping the minority community with an unprecedented flair. And, they set in motion a series of fundraising events and established standards of civic responsibility and community participation that has helped to significantly change the course of the African American community in the City of Los Angeles.

 

Thanks to the continued generosity of individuals and corporations that support the Regalettes Inc., we continue to serve minority communities through a number of fundraising events including our:

College scholarship assistance program, which has donated over $800,000 since its inception.

Team Leadership Conference which encourages young girls to become strong, smart and independent.

Annual toy drive

Hats, Heels and High Tea event that salutes individuals who give back and inpire

Recognition of individuals who make a difference in the Los Angeles Community.
